For most employees, deadlines plus the constant wrecking of the high cost of living continue to subject them to work-related stress and low productivity as they struggle to balance their everyday lives. This also denies them an opportunity to network and exercise, moments which ideally should be mind-relieving and energizing to boost production.
According to Ms. Charity Kabera, the Client Relations Manager, Eagle Africa Insurance Brokers, employers should strike a balance between being result oriented and ensuring that employees stay fit, healthy and more productive through regular exercises.
She was speaking during the just concluded Insurance Sports Gala held at KISU where Eagle Africa Insurance Brokers emerged winners of the tag of war competition after teaming up with Mayfair Insurance “I strongly recommend that companies incorporate results with the health of their employees. Over the weekend we spent time out in the field at the gala, we engaged in activities that were mind-reliving and even made us more productive.” She added that stress continues to limit the production capacity of employees, noting that such outings should be conducted at least quarterly.
Ms. Charity Kabera also emphasized the relevance of networking with their clients, stressing that it allows them to interact physically rather than through constant phone calls and emails. The Insurance Regulatory Authority CEO - Alhaj Ibrahim Kaddunabbi Lubega during this year’s edition of the Insurance Sports Gala edition urged Insurance employers to ensure they set aside time for their staff to engage in regular physical fitness exercises as it creates teamwork and boosts productivity. The Annual Insurance Sports Gala seeks to unite insurance industry service providers with the message of staying fit and healthy.
